Saturday - August 8, 2009 - 8 a.m.
Ellington Agricultural Center
440 Hogan Road
Nashville, TN 37220
(615) 837-5103

Once a private estate, the 207 acre Ellington Agricultural Center is now headquarters for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, TWRA, and is a branch location for various agencies. Located 10 miles south of downtown Nashville, the Center is the heart of the state's agricultural interests.

There are two maps here - one TO THE CENTER and one OF THE CENTER. If you can, print the Center. It was suggested that we meet at the Stables, as they are centrally located and have parking. Number 9 is The Show Barn which is the Stables.

Andrea Jones suggested this site and has this to say about it ... "I have painted there on several occasions. There are stables (the mounted police stable their horses there), gardens, wooded pastures, a pioneer village, a large historic home with wonderful arched path, a creekside path (easy access to the creek), and ,I think they are making a marsh area. There are also ugly office buildings, but they are easy to ignore.

(We were thinking that the creek would be good for Sat., as it's supposed to be pretty hot.)

We had so many people at Harlinsdale last week that I lost count
and they were so stretched out out all over the place.
Diana Diaz was there again and I forgot to get her picture, again.

Brenda Long really captured
these trees in watercolor.... this is a keeper.
And, look who showed up to paint!
This was a first PAN paintout for Jason Saunders.
Nobody can match Jason's silos.
Portrait artist, Mary Flora, shows off her 'first' plein-air.

Andrea Jones is cooking up something.
Dawn, in between paintings.

Poor Jim Frazier, can't paint for awhile.

Kevin Menck's first of the day -

Here are two sketches by Cal Shiver. These are
great examples of "massing" and "simplification".
Beautiful, Cal.

And, one by Bitsy King
