The Shelby Bottoms Greenway is a treasure. We were in the middle of the city painting, yet surrounded by grass and trees. There are definitely a few more spots I would like to capture, so we will return there in the future. The sound of the train going overhead was also quite amazing!

Shelby Bottoms Greenway. Directions: from the interstate get off at the Shelby Street exit and go away from the stadium. At the traffic light which should be 5th Ave South, make a right. From this point you will see signs all the way to the Greenway. You will take 5th Ave till it ends and make a left on Davidson. Continue on this street till you reach the Greenway. You will pass a golf course and the Navel Reserve.

A train bridge goes right over the beginning of the Greenway. This could prove to be a very interesting composition. There is a paved trail through the Greenway which most of it follows the river. About .25 mile in, there is an overlook with a view of the river and limestone banks and an old brick tower. About another .25 - .5 mile and there is an observation deck of the bird sanctury - a very colorful field. There are also more trails through the Greenway. There is a parking lot at the Shelby Bottoms Greenway entrance. 7-10am - we will probably be there about 7:15 am. Happy painting, Brenda

Bicentennial Mall State Park. This is located right next to the Farmer's Market. There are some really views in the park, the Farmer's Market, train tresses, and an absolutely great view of the Capitol. We're going to start on the street next to the Farmer's Market, up toward the Capitol building near the train tresses. See you then, Brenda
