Tomorrow - August 30, 2008 - 7:45 a.m
Vanderbilt Campus

Just about anything you want to paint is here! There are buildings, staircases, steeples, statuary, trees and plenty of people everywhere, now that school has started.

What a great place to paint! Hope to see you.
We found the best to park is on West End Ave. @ 23rd. You'll walk right onto the campus and find the Fine Arts Gallery on your right (picture at top).
Happy Painting.

Tomorrow - August 23, 2008 - 7:45 a.m.
Stones River Greenway -
Percy Priest Lake at the Dam

Although it'll be hot, we should be able to find some shade here (and it'll be early). Besides, I haven't painted in three weeks and got to go! As an added attraction, there have been some hay bales on the slope adjacent to the entrance to the greenway. If they are still there - they make a great painting.
I'm not sure how far it is to this "hanging" walkway (think it's about midway between the Dam and Lebanon Rd.), but, if I can make it, that's where I'll be.

Directions:

Take I-40 East to Stewarts Ferry Pike

Right on Stewarts Ferry Pike

Left on Bell Road

Left again before you drive over the dam

Drive down hill and park

Start walking! (Can't miss the hay bales on your left, if they are still there.)

Call me if you come and can't find me... cell - 513-0511

Tomorrow - Sat., Aug. 16, 2008 - 7:45 a.m.
Entrance to Percy Warner Park

This is a favorite spot for Nashvillians - right at the end (or is it the beginning) of Belle Meade Blvd. You can paint from the bottom, climb up (or drive up) and paint from the top. Or, if you prefer a more manicured subject, paint the golf course to the right.

Afraid I have to miss tomorrow, but hope to be painting with you again the following week.

Happy Painting without me!

Plein Air Nashville has been invited, along with The Chestnut Group, to participate in the following event. Hope you can help make it a huge success.

Announcement of a Painting Opportunity -
Tuesday, August 19th - 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. - Centennial Park

"The Mad Hatter Ball is one of Nashville's premiere fundraising events, benefiting The Sexual Assault Center. It takes place on Saturday, September 13th at the Parthenon, with dining, dancing and a silent auction.

This year, something extraordinary is happening. On Tuesday, August 19th -- at the Parthenon -- there is a special event especially for the kids. It's the 1st Annual Mad Hatter Tee Party, where the kids will enjoy tours of the Parthenon, Olympian relay races, games, treats and a tee-shirt to paint.

We have been invited to come and paint too ... the Parthenon, the children or the park. The event will be from 3:30 – 5:00, but you are welcome to start painting earlier if you like. And then, if you would like to donate your painting to the Mad Hatter to be auctioned at the event on September 13th, there will be donor forms available. These events help fund the Sexual Assault Center, the only agency in Middle Tennessee specializing in the support and treatment of survivors of sexual assault. The Center helps more than 700 children and adults annually, and no one is ever turned away for lack of ability to pay."

Please email Jean Gauld-Jaeger (jrgjaeger@aol.com) or call her at 297-9458 to let her know if you plan to paint for this event.

They hope to have coverage that day as they did a couple weeks ago on Channel 4’s show “Better”. And, Purity will have a popsicle truck there passing out their new popsicle, Tea Pops.

Happy Painting!

Sorry artists, suggest you stay home and paint in your studio. They say the RealFeel will be 107-108 ...... too hot for me. We'll keep you posted about the following weeks.

Painters of the Week - July 26, 2008
We had a good time last week, painting on the Pedestrian Bridge downtown. We even had some visitors.

Gary Young brought two out of town guests. Artists "Prince" and "Mary Ann" from Rhode Island stopped by to paint with us on the bridge. They were on their way out West to paint with David Leffel.

It was a little hot last week too!

Happy Painting - whereever!
