Next Site - Saturday - April 25, 2009 - 9:30 A.M.
Cumberland River from Rolling Mill Hill

We were trying to avoid downtown tomorrow (with the Marathon), but this location looks like it will be fine with easy access - even with all the road closures.

This is the old Nashville General Hospital building location on the bluff above the river. The Metro Development and Housing Authority has authorized us to paint from this restricted property.

This is a location not available to the general public and should be an exciting opportunity for us. I am hoping they will make this available to us for Saturday morning also, but no guarantees.

From the South or West: The best way to get there is take 8th Ave., right on Chestnut St. past the Sounds Stadium, left on 2nd Ave., right on Middleton, straight ahead to the bluff.

From North or East: Take Lebanon Road from Briley Parkway all the way downtown.
It will become Hermitage Ave., then bend right and become 1st Ave.
Right at the Bend is Middleton.....turn Right on Middleton St. straight toward the river.

You will be in the middle of the Rolling Mill Hill Development. You will pass two condo buildings on your right. After the second condo building, turn right and follow this road toward the large smoke stack that was once part of Nashville General Hospital. You can set up on the bluff on this road for your painting session. It gives the best view up and down the river and also should be the most convenient place.

Hope to see you.

Next Location - Friday, Saturday and Sunday
April 17th, 18th & 19th - 8:00 to 6:00
Radnor Lake

Come paint anytime this weekend at Radnor Lake. The Chestnut Group is having a show and sale of Radnor Lake and Middle Tennessee paintings in the Visitor's Center and some of their members will be painting throughout the park. We thought it would be nice to have all the local plein air painters join them. Of course, if you're asked what you're doing - you can tell them about the Show and direct them to the Visitor's Center to take a "look see" and possibly buy.

Stop by the Center before you go paint - pick up a few of these invitations (painted by PAN painter and Chestnut Group member, Kevin Menck) to have on hand with you while you paint.

See you sometime this weekend!

Next Location - Scarritt-Bennett Center
Saturday, April 11, 2009, 9:00 AM
(This is a repeat of Easter 2008)

"We wish everyone a Happy Easter and hope you can find time to join us Saturday morning for a few hours of Spring-time painting. We've picked a nice mid-town spot - just across 21st from the Vanderbilt Campus .... where you can paint a church, in keeping with the Season.

Scarritt-Bennett has wonderful buildings/churches and here are some of their gorgeous doorways.
Doorways of the Campus
Check out this site - especially the Buildings .... perfect for architectural drawing or painting practice. There are directions on this site too, as well as a good map of the center. We'll meet in the courtyard behind Scarritt Hall, Bennett Hall and Wightman Chapel - on 19th Ave. S.
You can't miss it. Should be no problem parking on the street."
