We have had serveral express an interest in returning to Scarritt. With it's gothic architecture, elaborate doorways and beautifully landscaped grounds, it's an ideal place to paint. Conveniently located - just across 21st from the Vanderbilt Campus. Here are directions and a map.
On 19th Ave., South you'll find Scarritt Hall, Bennett Hall and Wightman Chapel. Just behind these buildings is a lovely courtyard ...... enjoy the tranquil setting while you paint.

Next Location and Painter of the Day
Saturday - May 10, 2008 - 8:30 a.m.
Henry Horton State Park - On the Duck River
(Abouth 1 hour from Nashville - maybe 45 minutes from Franklin)
One of our regular painters, Kevin Menck, has been doing quite of bit of painting on the Duck River. He says that the park (on the South side of the river) is an ideal place to paint because of it's easy access, manicured grounds and you can park anywhere along the road and just walk right over to the river. There are also some hiking trails on the North side that wind around the river.... but he warns that you'd better have a good pair of hiking boots.
We'll meet on the South side of the river, just inside the Park. Take the first left after you cross the river, then another left into the parking area by the hotel. We'll go out from there.
Henry Horton is on Hwy 31 - just South of Chapel Hill
Phone - (931) 364-2222
From Brentwood/Franklin - Take I-65 South to Hwy 99
East on Hwy 99 to Hwy 31 - South on Hwy 31 to Park
(Entrance to park is on Left immediatly past the Bridge over the Duck River)
From Nashville - Take Hwy 41A/31 all the way from Nashville (Nolensville Rd)
From East or West - Take 840 - Exit at Triune and go South on 41A/31 to Park
